Alamo Elementary School sixth grader, Josie Figueiredo was honored as its Student of the Year at the November 16 VUSD Board Meeting.
Her teacher, Julie George had this to say about Josie.
"Alamo School is proud to celebrate Josie Figueiredo. She is a stellar student who maintains straight A’s, has an amazing work ethic, and strives to improve in learning in school and extracurricular activities. Math is her favorite subject because, as she said, “It’s a mix of challenging and easy-to-do problems.”
She is one of our most reliable “tutors,” helping her classmates and peers. Josie is an avid reader who always meets her AR Goal. She loves reading because it entertains her, and she loves to get lost in a book.
Josie has been an Alamo Eagle since second grade and has participated in choir for the last two years. She is also a representative on the Student Council and helps plan activities for the school. Her kindness and caring towards others make her the perfect student to help the students of Alamo.
Josie is in her 4th year of cheerleading with Dream Extreme outside of school. She often makes cards for family and friends when not cheering or reading. She says she might even start a card business after she completes college.
She is considering attending college in Hawaii (her favorite place) after high school. If she doesn’t create a card business, she may pursue acting as a career. Her spunk and bubbly personality would fit that career choice perfectly!
Josie will succeed in the future due to her tenacity and motivation. She is a role model to her peers and a joy to have as a student.
Alamo is proud to honor Josie Figueiredo as our sixth-grade outstanding student."
